AI is changing how code gets written, but not every approach carries the same risk. This one-page infographic compares two of them side by side. General AI coding uses tools such as code completion, refactoring and debugging aids, with developers staying in control and using AI to speed up specific tasks. Vibe coding generates code from conversational prompts, often with little understanding of the output, and treats the developer as an orchestrator who accepts results with limited scrutiny. The infographic sets out how the two differ in approach, developer involvement, security implications and use cases. General AI's risks are more distributed, coming from insecure training data or suggestions that lack context, while vibe coding's reliance on prompts that may leave out security requirements raises the odds of flaws such as hardcoded secrets. It suits prototyping, hackathons and “software for one,” but needs strong security oversight.
